Setting the Key
The first thing was to type
like this and this and more
But first first was to learn
to type without looking
make words from the the thoughts
that appear by thinking, without looking down
knowing the keys are here and where
my fingers go.
It’s as natural as learning to sing
and discovering that singing is more than
learning the order of the words
it’s talking to the band about the key,
unless you only want to sing in your kitchen,
which is more about something
to do while you wash dishes than it is
about putting something into the world that wasn’t there before
and wouldn’t exist without you.
